Jetti Resources appoints John Slaven as CEO

Jetti Resources (“Jetti” or the “Company”) is very pleased to announce the appointment of John Slaven as Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”), effective October 1, 2024. John is a highly experienced executive having held senior leadership positions at BHP, Alcoa Corporation, Boston Consulting Group, De Beers and Vedanta Limited. Mike Outwin, who co-founded Jetti and has led the company for a decade, will continue to support Jetti.

John has a strong track record for strategic development and the delivery of commercial projects in the international natural resources industry over the last 35 years, having worked and lived in most regions of the world. This has included projects at all stages in the industry value chain from early-stage exploration and project development, to mining and processing operations and sales and marketing. John joins Jetti from Vedanta Aluminium, one of the world’s leading aluminum producers, where he was CEO.

Previously John was Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Alcoa Corporation where he was responsible for global bauxite, alumina and aluminum operations. At BHP he held senior commercial and development roles in various commodity groups as well as in the Exploration division. After beginning his career at De Beers in technical and engineering roles he joined Boston Consulting Group where he progressed to Partner and Managing Director and led their North American Metals and Mining practice. John trained as a Mechanical Engineer at the University of Cape Town and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

I am delighted to welcome John to the Jetti team. His vast experience within large global metals and mining companies will support the deployment of Jetti’s technology.
On behalf of the Board, I thank Mike Outwin for delivering on his vision to discover and then support a breakthrough technology with the power to unlock the stranded copper resources needed to electrify and decarbonize our global economy. Very few leaders can claim to have found a new technology, literally from the laboratory, then raised meaningful investment for its commercialization and built the team to make it happen.

Daniel Malchuk, Chairman of Jetti

Mike and his pioneering team have done a fantastic job of establishing Jetti as the copper industry’s leading technology innovator. I am convinced by the power of Jetti’s technology and its huge potential to enable the responsible production of copper the world needs. I am very excited with the opportunity to lead the Company in the next stage of its growth.

John Slaven, CEO of Jetti

After over a decade building Jetti into the successful company that it is today, it is now the right time for me to pass the leadership on to John. With my co-founder Andrew Perlman, we have shown that breakthroughs happen. We are proud of the many people who have helped Jetti to deliver on its promise. Jetti is well positioned for the future, with a market leading technology, strong balance sheet, highly experienced team and pipeline of significant growth opportunities. I’m excited for the company’s bright future under John’s leadership.

Jetti Director and Co-founder, Mike Outwin
